Professional Athlete and Author, Taneka Rubin, Gives Back Through Mentoring at the Collegiate Level

Orlando, FL - July 31 2021 - Taneka Rubin, professional athlete, author, and mentor announced her opportunity to mentor through Baylor University's Faith & Sport Institute. Baylor University is a private Christian University and a nationally ranked research institution in Waco, Texas, offering mentoring to students for up to one (1) year.

Taneka Rubin, professional athlete turned author used her story-telling skills throughout her book, Winners Win: Unlocking the Potential to Live Your God-Given Dreams. Taneka released the book at the beginning of the COVID-19 Pandemic in March 2020, which prevented Taneka from holding traditional events. With the upswing of video conferencing, podcasts, and other platforms, hosts repeatedly approached Taneka to discuss her message.
Taneka uses the same humor-filled story-telling displayed in her book as she encourages and inspires athletes and entrepreneurs of all ages to take action toward fulfilling their God-Given Dreams. "The inspiration to adults who've taken significant leaps after reading my story and the opportunities to impact young people have been the most rewarding," says Taneka.

The journey hasn’t been easy, but Taneka uses the adversity she’s faced as inspiration to help other people. She wants people, especially youth, to understand that they have something special inside of them that the world needs. Taneka asserts that, “It won’t be easy, but you can’t quit. Whatever you have in your heart is worth it. Just don’t quit.” Taneka credits mentors in her life for why she’s been successful, and she sees the value in uplifting the next generation.
The commitment is for 1 year that started in June 2021. Working with Baylor University further opened Taneka’s eyes to the world of faith and sports, and shifted the way she views herself as an athlete. It also made her realize that while she is an elite athlete, her passion isn’t only sports, her passion is people. “Investing in people makes my job as an athlete more fulfilling. It’s not just about playing the game. It’s about the lives we can impact through the game.” -Taneka Rubin

Since 2018, Taneka has been playing professional basketball overseas. She is the author of the book, Winners Win: Unlocking the Potential to Live Your God-Given Dreams.
